The 2026 Outside Lands opens its gates today, 7 August, at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. According to one of the three-day festival's last-minute programme announcements, San Francisco producer Tycho will perform an extended DJ set at the Duboce Triangle stage on 8 August. Organisers are also holding back a further, currently secret act for Sunday.
Transport logistics alone represent a major operation. The city expects around 75,000 visitors a day. The festival wristband can also be used as an all-day Muni transport ticket during the event — with the exception of cable cars — while extra tram and express bus services are being run.
Following earlier transport disruptions, organisers are also regulating Uber, Lyft and robotaxi traffic more strictly. Designated pick-up and drop-off zones are in operation, several road sections are closed to car traffic, and free bicycle parking is provided. Police, fire and medical capacity have also been reinforced.
Digitally, one of Outside Lands' most interesting innovations is its expanded streaming system. Amazon Music is broadcasting the festival on two parallel channels via Prime Video and Twitch. Today's programme includes Charli XCX, Turnstile, Clipse, Wet Leg, Labrinth and Modest Mouse, among others.
The two streams simultaneously solve one of a physical festival's fundamental problems: overlapping performances. Online viewers can choose between two programme streams, and beyond the sold-out venue, the event can reach a practically unlimited digital audience.
