Scranton Fringe recorded its largest audience since 2020. The Greater Scranton Chamber’s 15 October summary says more than 3,500 people attended at least one event. The festival presented almost 50 productions, hundreds of creators and more than 20 venues.

Industrial heritage becomes a digital stage

A highlight was 3D projection mapping on the historic Scranton Iron Furnaces. More than 600 people attended across two nights.

The technology was more than decoration: it added a new interpretive layer to an industrial heritage site and could reach audiences beyond traditional theatre. The figures come from the chamber release; it does not cite an independent audit.

Industry attention as well as audiences

A representative of New York’s SOHO Playhouse scouted for the 2027 Fringe Encore Series. That created a real onward route, although attendance does not guarantee selection.

Four staple hotels participated, showing the festival’s role in downtown tourism. The next edition is scheduled for 14–24 October 2027.

Business perspective

Projection technology, heritage and accommodation create a coherent partner package. Technology suppliers, hotels and restaurants can connect to measurable attendance, provided the site’s history and the data are treated responsibly.

Summary

Scranton Fringe 2026 drew more than 3,500 people, its largest audience since 2020. Nearly 50 productions ran across more than 20 venues, and the Iron Furnaces mapping drew 600-plus across two nights.
